"Honey Birds"

Jacob received a Hummingbird feeder from us for his birthday so I helped him get it all ready and set up the other day. He was so proud of his "Honey Bird" feeder. Expecting the Honey Birds to show up immediately we waited around a bit to watch the migration - sadly, it didn't happen on Jacob's time schedule. The next best thing was to just pull up our little step latter to the kitchen sink (which has up close and personal viewing privileges {by design}) and check back periodically. The inauguration of the feeder went something like this:

Checking to make sure everything looked OK in the feeder. It passed inspection

But I don't think it's hanging just right...

...it needs a little more tapping into the ground.

OK Honey Birds...come on down now and drink. I made it special just for you.

Mooom...can't a boy ever get a break?

Fine then...I'll just cover you up so you can't see me.

Now for the rest of the story...we currently have Honey Birds come visit us on a regular basis. This makes one little boy very happy...and his Momma & Daddy too.

And a side note that has NOTHING to do with this post...I bought spray paint at Wal-Mart today and got carded! Yes, the lady asked for my ID...you must be 18 to buy it and she wanted to make sure I was old enough. Made me a happy customer! I know I look younger than I am (for which I'm very thankful!) but my goodness...18???

4 Generations

(This will also serve as my "52 Weeks In A Picture".)
Forever In Blue Jeans

This is not a "wordy" post...I am still here, just have been a bit busy lately. I'll put up one of my favorite pictures from this past weekend until I can really spend some time on my computer. Until then...

Bath Time

*Disclaimer*
I really do NOT have a favorite child, it just so happens to be easier to capture an 8 month old than a 3 year old...at least in my household. Also I somehow don't think a pair of zebra print high heel shoes would look quite as endearing on a little boy. ;) I do intend on doing shoots with Jacob while Lia is napping soon - just don't know when exactly.

Also - I'm really not trying to be obnoxious with pics of my kids...I do realize every parent feels they have the corner on the market for "cutest kids in the Universe". And every parent does - would be a sad day if you didn't. I'm NOT trying to "in your face" with the adorableness (is that a word?) of my own kids - I'm just practicing, learning, and having fun with my camera. And sharing my work here.

(And for those who have said "I wonder if Lia will get that curly hair like her brother", the answer is YES!! You can already see her fine little hairs curling. Makes her Momma VERY happy.) ;)

Without further ado...sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Boston Shirts

My Mom took a trip to Boston a few weeks ago with a few of her friends and brought back a shirt for each one of her grandchildren. As a thank you I wanted to get a few pictures of Jacob & Lia sporting their new tops. As you can imagine with a 3 yo and an 8 month old it's not exactly an easy task to get both of them to cooperate at the same time. ESPECIALLY for Mom! I did manage to get a few good shots (which of course I am sharing)...and the rest of the shoot went something like this:

Thank you Nana!

Weekend in Louisiana

We enjoyed some time with our friends Jay & Shauna this past weekend...I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Happy boaters...off to Jay's favorite fishing spot.

Just look at those two...aren't they cute?!

So can we go ahead and arrange a marriage for them? (Once Lia is 30 that is!) That way we can just not even have to deal with heartaches, we know each set of in-laws will be very happy, etc. Oh...you mean the parents don't get to pick???

Jacob & Bryce telling their dads how it's supposed to be done. ;)

The boys give up and decide to play...you just can't teach your Dad anything these days.

...meanwhile, Lane & Lia are still making eyes at each other.

On our way back to the house. A storm was coming in quickly so we had to get off the water sooner than we would have liked. It was still a fun time.

That's my girl...she is sooo cool!

After hamburgers and a rain shower, all the boys headed outside to play off more energy.

Bryce & Lane in their Jeep. Jacob in the Gator.

Sunday night after we got home...my two babies and me.

What a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. Spent with the three people I love most and one of my best "Mommy friends" and her family. It just doesn't get much better.

Blog Post to Make You Laugh

During a blog hopping session one day I stumbled upon this blogger. Periodically I hop over to her blog as I usually get a good laugh...today was no exception and I laughed until I cried. It sounds like something I would do - part of it anyway - and truth be told, probably a lot of us wives. The part about going on a cleaning rampage and inevitably throwing away something we shouldn't. (I'm making a mental note to remove batteries out of anything thrown into the trash that may come back to haunt me!)

A "real" post about our weekend will be coming...sometime.

Music & Miscellaneous

As you can see, I've added "Happy Music" to my side bar...I've wanted to do this for a while but am just now getting around to it. It's a collection of random songs that...get ready for this...make me happy. ;) Some songs I've know for years that bring back great memories or warm and fuzzy feelings. Some songs I've only heard on other's blogs (thank you Darcie & Lani!) and as soon as I heard them I wondered where on Earth they've been all my life. ;) Well, not really, but you get the idea. I will never forget how Jacob started dancing the first time he heard "Forevermore". Cute cute. Lia, she dances to it all. That girl's got rhythm already! It's loads of fun trying to feed her while she's "dancing" in her highchair - gets a bit messy around here at times.

Because I know you are all just dying to know what kind of loot I scored for my birthday yesterday: 2 Hibiscus plants and a tripod for my camera. David did good. That's exactly what I wanted. And a card from the kids...that ended with "Happy Mother's Day" instead of "Happy Birthday". Oops...details, they'll get you every time! Tonight we're headed out to Clear Springs for dinner. All in all I think it's been a good birthday...this weekend we're headed to LA to see some of our best friends - the celebration continues!! ;) It's good to have people love you.

Random question for the day...why, oh why, can't a 3 year old go potty without announcing it to you 101 times before he actually goes?? Why can't he just GO ALREADY!!! OK, I feel better now. No particular reason for that question or anything. I'm just wonerin'.

The "BIG" party...

We had Jacob's "big" party Sat. at our house. He now thinks any time someone comes over he's receiving a "patches" (package). And he should be getting a card in the mail every day.
(Notice Jacob's cute little shirt...hop on over to Sew Personal Designs and check out all of her awesome goodies.)

We had an extra special guest at this party...David's Uncle Jorge (Tio) from Atlanta. He's working in Ft. Worth this week so he flew in a few days early so he could spend some time with us. It was wonderful having him here. Of course that meant goodies for Jacob and Lia. Jacob LOVED this car.

Jungle Gym Nathan - with monkeys Jacob and Alexis (his niece)

Kristen A, Lia, Teresa C, Shelly A
David, Tio

Enjoying all the good fixins'.

awe...my 2 babies are gettin' their bellies filled

Cake time - the real reason for the party! ;)
(L) That's Kristen A. - she's a SWF, sweet, fun, cute, professional chef, the one who made Jacob's cake, and all kids of other great things....and she's going to kill me she sees this. But really, what are friends for??
(R) Jacob and his croonies...Alexis & Justin

The fam...
Blowing out the candles.

Time to open the gifts! But a picture of the 3 monkeys first.
Mom TRYING to keep up with who brought what so propper thank-yous can be written.

Playing with his new loot on the couch after the party was over...he slept REALLY good that night after crashing from the sugar high and playing hard.
The party was a success - thanks to everyone who came and helped a special little boy turn 3!

Happy Birthday To Me...

(Yes, yes, I'm still a kid at heart when it comes to birthdays...I still get really excited about them. My Dad does too and he's 62 so I'm guessing I probably won't be getting "over" it any time soon. Not in the next 30 years or so anyway.)

So I'm 33 today and it seems like such a strange age. Kind of like a "non-age" age. Thirty-two still sounds young to me, 34 sounds more like middle age, but 33 is just kind of there. Stuck in the middle. And why is Jacob flushing the toilet 5 times in a row? That's all for now folks.

*"This message has been brought to you by Kristen and the add council. We will now return to our regularly scheduled blogging." (as stated in my best announcer voice)

this makes me smile...

My friend Kristen A. made this moneky for Lia before she was born and she loves to play with it. And yes, Lia is looking more and more like her Dad...look at those eyes, David looks JUST LIKE that when he smiles. What's a girl to do?? ;)
