Soccer Time!

I am officially a "Soccer Mom" now!!  I'm not sure who is more excited about it, me or Jacob.  He had his first practice yesterday evening.  I must admit I was a bit nervous, not knowing how he would do in a sports related group setting.  I shouldn't have been!  He's never been a "ball boy".  He has always been all about planes, trains and automobiles but we wanted to expose him to something else also.  I was so proud of how he handled himself in a new situation.  He was proud of himself too. ;)  "Mom, I listened to my coach."  "Mom, I did what the coach said."  "Mom, I did such a good job!"  "Mom, did you see me kick the ball?"  "Mom, I ran fast."  Mom, I like my new friends."  The coach was super nice too.  An "older dad" ;), and just the kind of man I was hoping Jacob would get as his first coach.  Now, I know, we haven't had our first game yet, and a few things may come up before this is all over with, but overall, for our first time at all this sports stuff, I'm as pleased as can be.  It was wonderful for Jacob and I both to feel really good about this the first day.

Our team name...The Tadpoles!!  The parents got to choose whatever name they wanted...someone (a Dad) came up with the Bullfrogs as our colors are green and black.  One Mom piped up and suggested the Tadpoles (because this is the 3 & 4 year old group) instead.  It stuck.  The Dad weren't any to impressed, but us Moms thought it was cute.  And you know..."If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.  If Daddy ain't happy, who cares!"

Now enjoy a few photos of my little Tadpole in action!
*Brag alert - Mr. Jacob was the fastest one out on the field!  He stayed ahead of the kids most of the time.  I wasn't proud or anything.  When it came to actually kicking the ball, however, he was NOT the strongest! ;)  It was the shortest (and probably youngest) kid who was the strongest!
