It's Official!!! (I think)

...drum roll please...Jacob is potty trained! I know, I know, you were all at the edge of your seats wondering what the glorious announcement is. I'm so excited I'm doing the "My Son it Potty Trained" dance - which is a lot like the "Pee Pee" dance, but way, WAY cooler. ;) He just woke up one morning about a week ago and decided that was the day he wasn't going to need diapers any more and that was that. Not even at night or during nap times!! This is all so very exciting to me - you just have no idea. However, this new found "talent" doesn't come without a few issues.

A) How to get him to realize he doesn’t have to take EVERYTHING from his waist down off to use the potty. Yep, that includes the socks too. One day we'll have to face the dreaded public bathroom and I'm not about to let him strip in there. So we have to work on the staying dressed to go potty thing.

B) How to get his clothes back on him once he's done. You see, he thinks it's fun to run around the house all "loosy goosy". ;) It takes quite a bit of convincing that running around half "neekid" is not a good idea.

C) How to not have melt downs once he does decide he's willing to get his clothes on. He's a bit of a perfectionist and if his undies/ pants/ socks/ shoes don't go on EXACTLY right the first time he tries then his entire world falls apart. And he wouldn't dream of letting Mom help...nooooooo he is rather independent now.

Thank you, thank you, thank you very much for reading this...I know you were all super interested in this particular subject. I aim to please. ;)

Let's see...he's around 2 plus yrs. old? Expect a few more meltdowns!. But great that he "decided" to be potty trained.

In my experience you've got the hard part taken care of. The other stuff is generally minor & fairly short lived! CONGRATULATIONS!! It's worth doing a dance for :)

Super! I'm hoping for that sort of "decision" from our big boy too. Things seem to go much better with a 2-year-old if it is their idea!

Yay Jacob!!! Parker made that decision too around the same age as Jacob. He used to strip completely from the waist down for a while as well. Then he went to the phase where he didn't want to wear any pants, just underwear. Thankfully we're past all that now! :) Maybe the fact that it's cold out helped that factor. :) How lucky that he's good during naps and bedtime!! We're still working on that bit.

YEAH!!!! What exciting news!! I remember that day with both Lane and Bryce, but they were closer to three, so you are already ahead of the game!!:) Jacob's other little hang-ups will sort themselves out as he gets older....love the "loosey, goosey", I think it is just a guy thing to like that feeling!!!

Hurray!! That's a BIG milestone! Little boys are so funny...when they make up their mind, they'll do it.:) Lia will probably catch on quickly. Now Jacob will be saying (like Jarin says to me)..."We really need to teach Mommy how to go potty standing up". Good luck with that one!:)

Yay! That must be common...the stripping I mean. Kaden just "decided" too one day and that was that. And you know, I don't even remember when the stripping stopped! Everything used to get kicked as high in the air as possible with the goal apparently being to get every bit of clothing in the tub and still make it to the toilet in time! It's so much easier to only have to change one set of diapers don't you think? Hi to Brad for us, won't you?
